Our LED neon signs - what are they made of?

They are made from proprietary PVC molding technology which is mounted on high quality transparent acrylic as backing. There are 4 main types of backing shapes: 1) Cut to Shape - the acrylic backing follows the general contour of your design; 2) Whole Board - the shape of a square or a rectangle as backing around your design;  3) Cut to Letter - this is the most minimalistic of designs, for the most part we minimise the backing shape down to the skeleton of the LED strip design; 4) Circular - whatever your design, the backing shape will be a circle around it.

I heard neon signs consume a lot of Energy, is this correct ??? How do LED neon signs compare against traditional glass neons?

Actually.. Our LED neon signs produce relatively no heat, they are quite energy-efficient in that sense (some studies showing up to 10x less energy consumption as glass neon), and they are considerably less expensive compared to traditional glass tube neon. FYI - LED neon signs are far more flexible which in turn helps us get a lot of customisation into your design.

One other important advantage of LED neon is that its colours can be programmed to change, and a variety of effects and patterns can be programmed into the product tailored to your preference. In many cases because traditional glass neon is rigid, it means that it's also more vulnerable to accidental damage, breaking relatively easily during transport or with minimal to medium impact.

Changing specific broken sections of a traditional glass neon sign is often times more expensive than replacing the entire thing with an LED neon sign. This is one of the main reasons why new clients keep coming to us. 

 

Can LED Neon signs be used/installed outdoors?

Yes, we can make waterproof versions of your LED Neon sign for use in an outdoor setting. Please just let us know about this when you place your order.

 

What’s your lead time?

For Standard Orders lead times are on average 9-15 days, from payment to product delivery. For Expedited Orders lead times are approximately 5-8 days.

In the very unlikely case that your tracked order is delayed beyond our estimated shipping windows for Standard and Expedited Orders, PLEASE NOTE we are unable to process a refund for your product. We generally ship using Fedex or DHL, and from time to time delays in delivery may happen due to issues beyond our control, ie, issues which are not related to the production of your product, but rather issues due to delays in transit by the shipping company or by disruptions happening around the world (weather, war, etc).

Even though this is not ideal, this does happen from time to time. If you have a very precise deadline please contact us first (support@neon4business.com) so we can provide you our view on shipping times, there are times of the year which are busier than others so we can share with you our opinion on whether or not your deadline might be too tight or too risky a timeline to ship through, and you can determine what margin of error you may or may not be comfortable with.

How should I connect and power the LED neon signs?

All of our LED neon signs connect directly to a standard power socket, with a plug that’s specific to the country you’re shipping to; your product also comes with a 12V transformer. If you need a plug that is different than the country you're shipping to, please let us know.

 

What is the lifetime of LED neon signs?

On average LED neon lights last at least 30,000 hours. This is equivalent to 10 years if you turn them on for 10 hours a day. This lifespan is 3x longer than traditional glass neon signs. Whenever there have been problems with a product, the root cause has usually been the transformer box, however these are replaceable items and we can supply you with a replacement if needed, and if within the period of warranty.

 

Do LED neon signs require any maintenance?

No. LED is environmentally friendly and it's maintenance free.

INSTALLATION

Ways to Install

  • Most customers drill their signs to a wall, and yes we provide you the accessories to do so.
  • Other customers - local shops and local businesses - sometimes they want to display their signs from their window.. for this type of set up they normally hang the sign on the inside of the shop, facing out.
  • Other customers might need a slightly more portable sign to use more flexibly, for example at a market or at an exhibition or an event, so they might request a freestanding sign.
  • And a small number of customers might have a window or a mirror or a very smooth metallic-like wall surface in mind, when attaching the sign to these types of smooth, clean surfaces, only then would we recommend installing it by attaching with adhesive strips (link).

What’s the total length of the cabling from the sign to the plug/socket?

Great question! In total there are approximately 3.2 metres (10.5ft) from your LED neon sign to the plug/socket.

 

As it relates to safety, how safe are LED neon signs?

Our LED neon signs run at 12V so they really run at a much safer voltage than traditional neon. Because of its low output voltage, no heat is generated on the outer surface even after long hours of operation.

 

Will my LED neon sign require any specialist installation?

The majority of LED neon signs supplied by us are for internal use and they come mounted on an acrylic panel which makes them easily portable. They also come with a normal mains plug which can be plugged into an accessible power socket.

The sign simply needs to be fixed onto the wall, or suspended from a chain that we can supply as an optional accessory. Once you've made your purchase, we share with you a simple 5 minute DIY video explaining the different ways in which you can instal your sign. For standard wall installation we also recommend using these strips

Please note LED neon signs for permanent external use, and some large internal LED neon signs, will require specialist installation.

What does the warranty cover?

We offer a twelve (12) month guarantee on materials and workmanship of our LED neon signs. Please note though, this guarantee does not extend to any damage that may occur as a result of incorrect installation or physical damage during usage.

CUSTOMISATION

Can we make your custom sign? Can you make it in any size?

Yes, we can make almost anything. Every once in a while, if your design is too complex, and if the requested sign dimensions are too small, in these limited instances we'll get back to you explaining that you have two options:

  • Produce your sign in larger dimensions (we'll specify what minimum size), or

  • Let us make a simplified version of your design in order for it to fit within your required dimensions

This is something we would always discuss and pre-agree on up-front, prior to your sign going into production.

Can you use absolutely any font or any design to create an LED Neon Sign?

Yes, however do note that some fonts and designs work better than others, such as script and sans-serif fonts. We will normally recommend monoline (equal width) fonts due to the type of tubing we are using. Calligraphy/brush styles can’t be replicated precisely.

We are more than happy to assist with your ideas, we always show you mockup designs first to make sure you're happy with our representation of your ideas, and once you've signed-off, only then will we move to producing your sign. These are some of the most popular fonts our customers request.

How much does a custom sign cost?

Sign costs vary depending on sign size, design complexity, waterproofing requirements, acrylic backing type (transparent or black), and a few other factors which we address on a case by case basis according to your sign specs.

Is there a minimum size requirement on LED neon signs?

We tend to work to a minimum letter height of around 10cm (~4 inches), as we find that letters have better definition at this size. Having said that, it is possible to make letters of a smaller height, but we reiterate that larger letters tend to display better.

Generally, this also means we offer a minimum sign size of 50cm, and usually work up to a maximum of 300cm - however we're happy to make exceptions regarding size considerations on a case by case basis as we asses your needs.

 

Can I get a mockup of my LED neon idea/design?

Yes, of course, we start by learning from you what logo, or slogan or idea you have in mind for your LED neon sign. Once we have this, we might ask you some clarifying questions to make sure we're in the right track. We'll then draft a mockup design for you and make a few tweaks to it as needed based on your feedback. Only once you're happy with your design, only then will we ask for your authorisation/payment to move forward to production of your sign.
